Senior Electrical Engineer, Research & Development

QUASAR is looking for a talented, self-motivated, detail-and-result-oriented Senior Mechanical Engineer who is a respectful, responsive, resilient, dependable, considerate team player with a positive attitude. This individual will work with a multi-functional, multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers in a rigorous and disciplined research and development environment, taking emerging technologies from conceptualization to productization. The candidate must be expert in low noise and power analog electronics design, proficient in low power digital design, and capable of problem-solving issues in commercial product designs.
Responsibilities:
Our new team member will:
- Specify, design, analyze, simulate, prototype, build, test, and document ultra low power, low noise bio-electrode electronics and integrated, wearable, battery-powered data acquisition systems that communicate EEG, ECG, EMG, & EOG data wirelessly or via wires to a user interface, and/or writes to advanced data storage devices, such as FLASH
- Work independently or as a part of a team to explore, conceptualize and problem-solve electrical engineering and design issues, and trouble-shoot products under aggressive project budgets and schedules
- Prepare system/design requirements specifications, translate requirements into robust electrical designs, and implement, test and document the designs to meet requirements and comply with electrical safety standards
- Assist with PCB layouts as needed, work with vendors to procure fabricated PCBs and electronic components, and closely work with other engineers/scientists to build/test prototypes for on-time delivery
- Communicate effectively with customers, clients and colleagues about product concepts, design issues and solutions and maintain a superior level of technical competence and state-of-the-art awarenes
Requirements:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering (MSEE preferred) & 7-10 years analog/ADC/DAC experience
- Experience with battery-powered microcontroller-based products (preferably medical devices) containing data acquisition embedded systems for low level ESD-protected signals for real time-signal processing
- Must be hands-on and have familiarity with firmware and PCB layout and schematic capture tools
- Proven track record of meeting aggressive schedules, and demonstrated ability to lead a project team
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving and decision-making skills
